Family Therapy

What is Family Therapy?

The goal of family therapy is to help restructure the dynamics in families to help families move beyond the conflicts that may be present. It is geared to help families understand one another and develop rules, roles, boundaries, and positive behaviors that meet the needs of the family system. The emphasis is on the family system and not just one individual. The client is the family. The therapists at Primrose use a variety of Family Systems techniques to best meet the needs of the individual family. There is no one definition of family and in today’s society there are many different types of families. We honor, respect, and recognize all types of families. There is no minimum age for children. Often family therapy and individual therapy are combined if the therapist finds this would be helpful. Family therapy teaches communication. It can be difficult, but it can also be lighthearted, and activities can be fun.
